Paul Sullivan was my dad. He was married to my mom for nearly 59 years before he passed away on June 25, 2018 at 80 years old. He had been diagnosed with Parkinson's about 7 years prior. At time of his death he was not able to speak, swallow and his colon had a tear in it that was leaking internally causing a sepsis condition. Surgeons performed a colostomy. Started antibiotics and he never recovered. We withdrew his life support. We watched Parkinson's rob him of his golden years with family friends golf, the Razorbacks and whatever he wanted to do. He would sit and watch snow on the TV and get aggravated if you changed it. He refused to take his medicine at times. He didn't want to change out of his red t-shirt. What I am obviously telling you is that this is NOT the man we knew for 7 decades. Parkinson's treated him horribly for 7 years and then we pulled his life support and watched him die. This can happen to anyone at any time. Parkinson's has not been given the special attention of AID's, Cancer, Heart Disease, Diabetes and others. I admit it took this experience for me to fully wake up myself to the magnitude of this problem. Its time to double and triple our funding efforts. Its too late for my dad but its not too late for yours. Regards, Phil Sullivan
