Raised in Tribute:
$5755.30"Tiger" Tom Lagona was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease early in life, at the young age of 38. He persevered through many obstacles with the help of his family and friends. Despite the physical challenges he faced, he NEVER showed signs of mental struggle in front of his family and friends. To the people that knew him best, he was the same old Tiger: a 60' rock lover, a Texas Hold 'Em hustler, a die-hard Cubs fan, a dance floor professional, a hot tub soaker, and a super fan of Da Bears.
Prior to Parkinson's, Tiger loved playing softball with his friends and was extremely competitive on the handball court. As his tremors progressed, he wasn't able to continue on with these sports, but found other activities to fill the void. He channeled the "Eye of the Tiger" and joined boxing classes at "Rock Steady Boxing: Fighting Back Against Parkinson's". Believe me, this man could throw a hell of a punch.
On Monday, May 14th, 2018, Tom passed away. Some use the phrase "they lost their struggle" when describing the death of a person that suffered with Parkinson's. However, I refrain from using these words because Parkinson's did not beat Tom. He stayed mentally tough and fought Parkinson's disease until the very end. Like a person with a black eye being asked "What happened to you?", Tom would always answer back, "You should see the other guy."
