Catherine Phelps passed away at her home in the early morning hours of April 3, 2018.
She lived all 59-years of her life to the fullest extent. An avid QVC shopper, Cathy was always decked out in her favorite Judith Ripka jewelry. She also loved going out to eat and spending time with family and friends, and would not pass up a chance to grab a coffee at Starbucks. Cathy also enjoyed reading and watching movies, always up for a good scare.
She also had a successful career that she loved; starting as a medical coder at Rancocas Hospital and working as an insurance auditor for Independence Blue Cross in Philadelphia and Executive Health Resources.
Most importantly, Cathy was a loving, supportive, and proud mom. Always reaching out for a hug, especially when it was from her pup Zoey.
Cathy was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease in 2013.
As a testament to her strength and tenacity, she remained positive during her worst struggles with this disease. She had an unfulfilled goal of participating in a clinical trial. Cathy never gave up hope that a big breakthrough or cure might happen during her lifetime.
The Michael J. Fox Foundation is dedicated to finding a cure for Parkinson's disease and to ensuring the development of improved therapies for those living with Parkinson's today. The Foundation is the world's largest nonprofit funder of Parkinson's research, with more than $800 million in high-impact research funded to date.
