$1325.00Don Wallace Fitzgerald was born June 16, 1936 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma. He passed away February 23, 2018 in Oklahoma City at the age of 81.
Don was the only child of Roy E. FridayFitzgerald and Allie Mae (Stapp) Fitzgerald. Don spent his early years in Oklahoma City and Enid. He was an avid baseball player and had particular fond memories of playing baseball in Enid on Failing Company-sponsored teams. He graduated from Northeast High School in Oklahoma City in 1954 and graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a degree in Business in 1958. He later received his Masters degree in Finance and Banking from the Stonier Graduate School of Banking at Rutgers University.
In Dons professional career, he was associated with and chartered numerous banks across Oklahoma, serving as Chairman of the Board of Directors or as a Director of these banks. He was also active in construction and real estate development, and was an avid pilot. He was a former director of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, the Better Business Bureau, and the University of Oklahoma Alumni Association. He served as a Deacon at Westminster Presbyterian Church, and was a member of the Rotary Club 29 of Oklahoma City and a Rotary Paul Harris Fellow.
Don was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved grandson, Don Clark Fitzgerald. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Sonja SoRelle, and his three children: Kelly Brewer and her husband, Mike, of Oklahoma City, Jay Fitzgerald and his wife, Ginny, of Venice, CA, and Erin Fitzgerald of Oklahoma City. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Shea Sprague and her husband, Ian, of Los Angeles, CA, Allison Hernandez and her husband, Jorge, of San Francisco, CA, and Jessica Brewer of Norman, OK. Don is also survived by his sister-in-law Patricia Hopkins of Corpus Christi, TX. The family wishes to thank Dons caregivers at Villagio as well.
Services will be Thursday, March 1, 2018 at 2:00 at Westminster Presbyterian Church.
