Raised in Tribute:
$390.00Our dad, Michael (Mike) James Morse, age 71, died on Monday, January 29, 2018, at his home in West Los Angeles after a three-decades long courageous battle with Parkinson's disease. Despite his diagnosis, he never stopped fighting, running for decades and staying as active as his body would allow until his final months.
He was a unique and caring individual who touched the lives of all that knew him. Dad loved the beach and the sun and spent much his free time as a college student enjoying life with his many friends playing Hearts at Sandy Beach. He lived in Los Angeles his entire life and had many friends. A graduate of University High School and San Fernando Valley State College (now California State University, Northridge), he earned a Bachelors degree in mathematics and Masters degree in Euclidean Geometry. He was also a member of the ZBT fraternity. In 1968, he eagerly joined the Peace Corps where he served for two years in the Philippines training teachers how to teach math. Before returning to the US, he traveled throughout East Asia, Europe and Israel. He later worked as a mathematics professor at East LA College. He also taught at West LA College part time for many years. He was always very popular and loved by his students, highly admired and a source of inspiration to other teachers as well. He was a devoted father and grandfather and will always be missed.
