Dr. Christine M. LaGana was a psychologist, who was the former Director of Psychology Service at the VA Maryland Health Care System for more than 30 years. She was a vibrant, witty, stylish woman who dedicated her life to helping others in profound ways. Moreover, she was married to Joe Raiti for over 39 years. They were in-separable as they enjoyed the years that was appointed to them. Joe loved her with an unconditional love. He stood when most men would escape or succumb to life’s pressures. Christine could come into a room and her presence commanded your attention because of the clothes or hats she wore. She had a huge sense of humor and the of wisdom of Solomon. Her personality could allure you into the most heartfelt conversations leaving you with a sense of calm and the notion that everything was going to be okay. She stood amongst the best in her field of practice wanting for nothing but giving her all. She never allowed her physical condition to dictate her life's expected end. She embraced Parkinson's and challenged those who viewed it as a disability. During her most challenging years, she bestowed herself to BHL Ministries as the Director of Fundraising Strategies, where she provided a pathway to education for the most vulnerable high school population in our urban communities. She fought a good fight, she was our hero, our general in the army of mankind. There is no need to weep because she accomplished her divine assignment and left each of us to carry the mantle as her light will surely continue to shine.
