Raised in Tribute:
$50.00Update: 6/26/2018 Joe saw Dr. Holt in the early part of June and his symptoms are somewhat being controlled by Carbidopa-Levodopa, no med adjustments were recommended at this time. Joe will see a neuropsychologist in Duluth in August to gain a better understanding of his brain activity and to help mitigate other symptoms brought on by the progression of the disease. Deep Brain Stimulation remains an option, but no plans have been made for the procedure as of yet.
Joe has been busy racing this summer and is enjoying his time behind the wheel. The boys have been busy helping with the car and it truly is a team effort. More updates will follow after the appointment in August.
Joe is an avid outdoorsman, a loving husband, and a dedicated father to active twin boys. He was diagnosed with Young Onset Parkinson's Disease in February 2017. Currently, Joe is taking the routine medication regimen prescribed by his doctor. He has good days in which symptoms are hardly noticeable, and bad days where his symptoms make his behavior almost unrecognizable. On a bad day, Joe's tremors are severe, he is clumsy in his actions, and his memory is poor. Joe has always been very tactile and deft, especially since he is an active fisherman and hunter. His memory is usually remarkably strong, and no one would have ever described Joe as clumsy. Since being diagnosed, Joe has chosen to live his life to the fullest, taking in outdoor adventures with his family and doing the things he loves as often as possible.
The Michael J. Fox Foundation is dedicated to finding a cure for Parkinson's disease and to ensuring the development of improved therapies for those living with Parkinson's today.
