$1601.25Joe was born in 1937 in the Greenpoint section of Brooklyn, NY to Mike and Florence. He grew up an avid Brooklyn Dodger's fan and remained that till the end. He met Mimi in 1956, and fell in love quickly and they were married in November of 1957 and resided in the Canarsie section of Brooklyn until 1977 when the moved out to Old Bethpage on Long Island. Fran was born in October of 1958, and Joe. Jr in February of 1964. In 2007 they moved out to Chaska, MN to be closer to their grandchildren Jenni and Kevin where they remained until Mimi passed away in December of 2019 and Dad in July 2025, the day before Mimi's birthday. Joe and Mimi were together for over 63 years, and Joe adored her. No other way to say it.
Joe worked for United Parcel Service for over 36 years in their accounting department and retired around 1995 to spend time with his grandchildren who meant the world to him. He loved to play pinochle, bowl, do word searches, wrap yarn skeins for Mimi as she knitted and crocheted, and cheer on the NY Mets & NY Giants very loudly through the years, adding the MN Twins and Vikings to his favorite teams when he moved out to MN.
Joe was diagnosed with Parkinson's in 2015 and fought it right till the end. He struggled with the increasing lack of mobility as it progressed, along with the other symptoms, but never faltered in his positive approach to life and his constant joking and kidding around. He did not let Parkinson's take over his life, but fought to control it and make his life work around it. Parkinson's didn't define him, he let it strengthen his resolve.
The Michael J. Fox Foundation is dedicated to finding a cure for Parkinson's disease and to ensuring the development of improved therapies for those living with Parkinson's today.
