April 7, 1944 – July 17, 2025
Orlando K Westover, 81, of Newnan, Georgia, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, July 17, 2025.
Born on April 7, 1944, in Holbrook, Arizona, Orlando was the son of Earl B. and Margaret (Webb) Westover of Joseph City—a small Latter-day Saint community along Route 66. He grew up helping his family run their Guernsey dairy farm, beginning his lifelong commitment to hard work by delivering milk to customers in Holbrook before school each day, often riding along with his father in the family’s milk truck.
As a boy, Orlando loved adventure. He spent his childhood digging tunnels with his brother and cousins, building and riding homemade scooters, painting cars, and participating in church activities.
After graduating high school, he served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the New England area, where he shared his faith throughout Boston, Maine, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia, and other parts of Canada. Upon returning, he completed an accounting degree at Arizona State University in just three years.
In 1967, he married the love of his life, Sylvia Greer. Together, they shared 58 years of marriage, raising five children, and building a family legacy that includes 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Orlando began his career with two CPA firms before launching his own accounting practice with offices in Chandler, Gilbert, Show Low, and Springerville, Arizona. He provided tax services, audited cities and schools, and briefly owned a health club. His early interest in computers and accounting software eventually led him to relocate to Newnan, Georgia, in 1987, where he modernized government accounting systems for municipalities across the state.
A lifelong learner and adventurer, Orlando became a private pilot in 1976. He loved flying family and friends across the country in his planes. He also enjoyed building and construction, taking on several homebuilding projects over the years.
Faith was central to Orlando’s life. He cherished his membership in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving faithfully in various roles, including clerk, ward mission leader, and home teacher.
He will be remembered for his big grin, quick one-liners, quiet strength, and unwavering kindness.
Orlando was preceded in death by his sister, Flora (Ned) Tiffany, and his brother, Brent (Valaine) Westover. He is survived by his beloved wife, Sylvia; his siblings LeGrande (Pat), John (Mary), and Margie (Gary) Russell; his children Greer (Pamela), Michelle (Belinda) Crews, Elizabeth (Jim) Lachemann, Rebecca (Brian) Finell, and Amy (Matt) Harrelson; along with 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
