It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Judith Ann Kummer, our loving mother and sister. A teacher for over 40 years, Judith taught well over a thousand students, loving each as if they were her own child. A kind and proper woman, she was a true friend to anyone she met. Judith enjoyed opening her home to family and friends, hosting a large Christmas party for many years. Born and raised on Long Island in New York, she moved to Sacramento in 1988 and taught at Cordova Gardens Elementary until her retirement in 2011. Preceded in death by her husband, Roger Kummer, she is survived by her son, Christopher, her brother, Skip, and his children Josh and Heather. We ask that tributes to Judith’s life take the form of donations to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research. Judith’s memorial will be held on July 5th at 1pm at the Rancho Cordova United Methodist Church.
The Michael J. Fox Foundation is dedicated to finding a cure for Parkinson's disease and to ensuring the development of improved therapies for those living with Parkinson's today. The Foundation is the world's largest nonprofit funder of Parkinson's research, with more than $2 billion in high-impact research funded to date.
