Raised in Tribute:
$103.00Charles McClure Slater was a devoted husband, proud father and grandfather, Navy veteran, and retired IBM professional who lived a life marked by integrity, perseverance, and deep love for his family. For more than eight years, Charles bravely battled Parkinson's disease—a journey that revealed his remarkable resilience and quiet strength. The last three years of his life brought increasing challenges, as mobility became limited and he was eventually confined to a wheel chair. But through it all, he remained steadfast in his love and support for his family, and to those around him. Thanks to the unwavering support of his wife, Rosemary, his daughters Lisa, Lori and Shannon, his grandchildren, son-in-laws and his dedicated caregivers, we were able to honor his wish to remain at home, surrounded by love, comfort, and dignity until the very end. Even during the most difficult days, his sense of humor, grit, and deep concern for others continued to shine. He made everyone around him better people. He taught us the value of hard work, the power of commitment, and what it truly means to show up for the people you love. Parkinson's may have taken his physical strength, but it never touched his character. We share his story here not only to honor his life but to help advance the search for better treatments and a cure. In his memory, we support the Michael J. Fox Foundation and their mission to bring hope to families like ours.
The Michael J. Fox Foundation is dedicated to finding a cure for Parkinson's disease and to ensuring the development of improved therapies for those living with Parkinson's today. The Foundation is the world's largest nonprofit funder of Parkinson's research, with more than $2 billion in high-impact research funded to date.
