$247.20Dorothy Robinson, my mom, was the most beautiful Christian woman you could ever hope to meet. Her smile was memorable and beautiful. She was a people person who was interested in all the details of someones life. She would care deeply for people. When she was in her 70's her younger sister, Jane, was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease. It was sad for her watching her sister's decline, but Dorothy did whatever she could for as long as she could be of help. It saddened her deeply. Jane passed away from complications of Parkinson's at too young of an age, 73. At this point Dorothy was 7 years older so nearing 80 but was starting to have issues of her own. Moving forward, it took too long for the doctors to diagnose Dorothy but eventually it was determined she also had Parkinson's symptoms and started receiving treatment, too late for many of them to be effective.
Mom was a vibrant lady and her mom lived to her 90's. We have no doubt that if mom had started receiving treatment sooner she may have been able to live longer and her life would have included a much higher quality. It is our desire to help make it possible for people to be diagnosed sooner and treatment to begin sooner so that a person dealing with a Parkinson's diagnosis can live a longer life with much more quality of life.
Better yet, we would like to help with research to determine if someone has the gene for Parkinson's to be able to treat before symptoms even begin. Wouldn't that be wonderful!!! I am walking and fundraising to help make that possible and because I can walk and many Parkinson's patients eventually get to a point where walking is not possible or a stuggle. Please give if you are able. Thank you.
