$180.25On Monday, February 10, 2025, of Silver Spring, MD, Anne Hitch Ball passed away peacefully at age 85 following a long and brave journey with Parkinson’s disease. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert Leslie Ball and a devoted mother to Laura (John Nelson) Odendahl and Cynthia (Juan) Gonzalez. She was also a loving stepmother to Nora (David Searls) Odendahl and Steven (Ruth McCorrison) Odendahl. She was a cherished grandmother to Devon, Makena, Mateo, Joaquin, and Ana Patricia. She was predeceased by her parents, Leonard and Frieda Hitch, of Dayton, Ohio and her first husband, Alan Odendahl.
Anne attended Stivers High School in Dayton, Ohio, before earning a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from The Ohio State University. She was a former journalist for The Journal Herald in Dayton, Ohio and the Sunday Sun in Baltimore, Maryland. Additionally, she was a freelance writer, specializing in public relations, and a longtime staff member of Sandy Spring Friends School, where she made lasting contributions to the community.
Known for her intellect, warmth, and engaging conversations, Anne found great joy in choral singing, volunteering, and bringing people together. Anne attended Sandy Spring Friends Meeting. She was a source of unwavering love and support to her family and friends.
A Memorial Meeting for Worship will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, March 29 at Sandy Spring Friends Meeting, 17715 Meeting House Rd, Sandy Spring, MD 20860.
