My dad was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease in his mid-70's. He was a strong 6'4" former electrician who was still active in his community, and worked out at his local gym several times per week. He initially began to notice tremors in his right hand, which progressed to lack of balance when he walked. As the disease progressed, he began to have regular falls - when this began, his height worked against him. As the use of his hands faltered, the falls became more damaging. At age 79, he moved in with my husband and me, as his falls became more frequent. He continued to live an active lifestyle, and tried so hard to fight this cruel disease. Last year, it became apparent he needed more help with day-to-day living, and had lost the ability to dress himself and feed himself appropriately. He moved into an assisted living facility, where he lived for a bit over a year. He passed away on February 1, 2025. He is missed immensely.
