$462.00Herbert Vernon Davis, Jr., 79 of Frederick, Maryland passed away on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at Frederick Memorial Hospital.
Born Thursday, November 22, 1945, in Hagerstown, Maryland to the late Herbert Vernon Davis Sr. and Marie Terese Herauf Davis. Vernon attended Hagerstown Junior College for 2 years and then transferred to the University of Virginia (UVA) in 1965 and completed his Bachelor’s degree in 1967. After graduating from UVA, Vernon entered the Air Force and served for 4 years. During this time he earned his MBA from the University of Nevada Las Vegas (UNLV) in 1971.
Upon leaving the military, Vernon led a successful career as a government employee for 30 years working at the General Accountability Office (GAO), Resolution Trust Fund, and Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) until he retired in 2002.
After retirement Vernon served as the president of the Loudoun Restoration & Preservation society and was active in the Leesburg United Methodist Church serving as the church historian.
Vernon battled Parkinson's later in life after his retirement and was an avid supporter of and donor to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.
Vernon leaves behind his loving family including his wife Suzan, his daughter Meredith Davis and her children Ash and Rowan (Tauranga, New Zealand), and his son Hunter Davis, wife Christine, and two daughters Kayla and Jenna (Monrovia, MD). He is also survived by his sister Carol Ann Freese (Covington, Indiana) and nieces Jane Ann Chapman (Blackstone, Massachusetts) and Susan Reynolds (Covington, Indiana).
