Raised in Tribute:
$527.45Dick was an amazing man - one of the most intelligent, even-tempered and hard working men you'd ever met. A true engineer in every sense of the way with hints of perfectionist built in. He was a loving father, raising a son and stepson, a loving husband of the last 29 years, and a grandfather to 4 young grandchildren. Dick loved to travel, work around the house on his 30+ acre property, and was an avid car guy. Working for GM, ASC and Magna during his long career, cars were his passion. Working on them, looking at them, driving them, talking about them. He even had dreams of building a "garage" in his large pole barn so he could work on them once he retired.
Like too many others, Dick's life and retirement plans were cut short by Parkinson's. Dick was diagnosed 16 years ago, fortunately catching the disease early and able to live a fulfilling life for the first 11 or so years. During the duration of his disease, Dick joined in the fight to find a cure, participating in a number of early phase drug trials, doing research on the disease, and of course donating to great foundations such as MJFF. His health declining quite rapidly since 2020, including the addition of dementia the last few years, Dick lost his battle against Parkinson's on November 27th, 2024.
Dick leaves us with memories of a man who accomplished so much, helped raise a great family, and was a great leader and friend. In his memory, we'll continue the fight for a cure against Parkinson's.
The Michael J. Fox Foundation is dedicated to finding a cure for Parkinson's disease and to ensuring the development of improved therapies for those living with Parkinson's today. The Foundation is the world's largest nonprofit funder of Parkinson's research, with more than $800 million in high-impact research funded to date.
