Raised in Tribute:
$1642.00Nancy was born in Orleans, MA in 1945 and was the oldest of 3 siblings. She attended Pembroke College (Brown University) in the 60's where she met and married her husband, George Manfredi. Nancy and George raised their 3 children in Palos Verdes Estates, CA. Nancy was always active in trying to better the community around her. She was active in various volunteering pursuits- as a docent at the Cabrillo Marine Museum, active in the local PTA, working at the Palos Verdes Costume Closet, active in National Charity League, fundraising for Peppermint Ridge Group Homes and later the Palos Verdes Resale non-profit thrift shop.
After her kids left home, Nancy returned to school, received a Master's Degree in Public Administration and started a whole new career in grant writing for the Carson/Lomita/Torrance Private Industry Council.
Nancy was an avid reader, an accomplished cross-stitcher and killer baker- keeping the spare freezer full of cookies for all her kids and kids's friends. She had a sweet, caring personality that was balanced nicely by her sneaky, wry sense of humor. While elements of her disease took away many of her abilities, this sense of humor was something that remained with her till the end.
Nancy is survived by her 3 children, Chris, Matt and Rachel. She also had 4 grandchildren, Will, Shea, Sofia and Max, whom she loved deeply.
Over the last 10 years of her life, Nancy was increasingly affected by her struggle with Parkinson's and Lewy Body Dementia. We hope this memorial fund may be used to help ease suffering or help prevent the disease in others.
