Raised in Tribute:
$1331.50Lyn Holt (Anderson) of Sumner, Washington passed away on July 27, 2024 at the age of 79, after a rapid decline attributed to Parkinson’s disease. Lyn was born on December 23, 1944, to Sylvia and Robert "Bus" Anderson, though her biological father was killed in WWII and she was raised by her father Eugene Wilson. She attended Stadium High School in Tacoma, followed by the University of Washington and Western Washington University where she earned her teaching degree (health and physical education). She met her husband Dennis (Denny) Holt at the UW when she sat in front of him at class, and they were married on June 17, 1967 followed by a cross-Canada driving trip to settle their first-year home in Washington while Denny finished his military tour. Soon after they built their home of 30 years in Enumclaw, Washington, where Lyn started Country Kids Boutique children’s clothing store and they were active members of the community.
Lyn always loved travel adventures and being outdoors, as a way of staying fit and exploring. One of her first jobs as a teenager was as a chairlift operator on Mt Rainier, and throughout life she continued to love a good mountain hike (be it at Lake Tipsoo, in Finland or in Tibet) and nature landscapes (from rafting the Grand Canyon, safari camping in Tanzania to snorkeling in Tahiti). Lyn prioritized well-being, from her early-career days as a gym teacher, cheerleading coach and tennis coach at Auburn High School, through running the CAPRI cardiac rehab program, doing research at the University of Washington on exercise impacts for elderly, to being a staff wellness coordinator at Good Sam Hospital. Lyn practiced what she preached … from running a 10k race, biking the San Juans and playing racquetball, to later in life playing golf and pickleball at their second home in Surprise, Arizona. She loved her daily NY Times crossword puzzle and ending the day absorbed in a novel. Lyn appreciated good laughs with friends, especially if it involved an excuse to stop by the casino, pick up a vegetarian burrito or dropping in to watching her grandkids excel at their hobbies and sporting events. She adored her feline friends and never missed an opportunity to make friends with cats.
Lyn was preceded in death by her husband Denny (1942-2014), parents Sylvia, Robert, and Eugene, and her brother Lee Anderson. She is survived by her daughter Erika (Markku), son Dolan (Melissa), and her precious teenage grandchildren Lukas, Mia, Karson, and Emma. Lyn was a woman who always wanted to live life to the fullest, in a healthy and active way. She will live forever in our hearts and memories. There will be a celebration of Lyn’s wonderful life at Auburn Golf Course club house (29630 Green River Rd SE, Auburn, WA) on August 2, 2024 at 12-2 pm.
