Serhat Mehmet Ahıskalı was born on Thursday, February 18th, 1954 in İstanbul, Türkiye. He was the second of two children to his parents Burhan and Güzin. He immigrated to the United States in 1972 and attended college at Rutgers New Brunswick in New Jersey. It was there that he met his wife, Kay. They were married on July 3rd, 1978. Their son Metin was born in 1986 and shortly was followed by their daughter Aileen in 1989. They moved to the suburbs outside of Dallas, Texas shortly after Aileen's birth, but knew their home was in New Jersey. They moved back in 1994, and have remained since.

Serhat was known as an all around Mr. Fix It. He could do painting, electrical, plumbing, and so much more. You name it, he had done it around the house. He shared that love of remodeling and fixing with his friends, always having a project in mind to help them whenever they needed it (whether they realized it or not).

Serhat was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease (PD) in the year 2000. He battled PD along with chronic kidney disease and prostate cancer and sadly lost his battle on Sunday, June 23rd, 2024. He is survived by his incredible wife, Kay, who was by his side until the very end, as well as his two children and his granddaughter.

In his memory we ask that you make a donation in his honor. Every dollar donated is a step towards a finding a cure.

Rest in peace Baba ♥️
