William "Roger" Mark was born in Truro, Iowa to Gladys and Howard Mark. He was the first two babies to arrive on September 19, 1934. His identical twin came fifteen minutes later- James "Roland " Mark.
Life was free and easy for the first 17 years living on a farm. He attended country school and enjoyed living in small towns in Iowa. He did join the Air National Guard for a while before going to college.
In 1957, he met Charlotte Anne Mitchell at Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa, whom he married on August 24, 1958. A year later, they had their first child Juanita Kay Truelove on August 15, 1959. She became a teacher and the a school librarian before retiring. Two more came into the family three and five years later. Bryan Douglas Mark and Scott Richard Mark , both them would later become honorary discharged from the Navy. They both continue to work. The youngest works for the Navy as a civilian.
Roger would work in various jobs across the state of Iowa.
When he was 49, his oldest, gave birth to Colleen Marie. He by that time he had moved to Texas and had started a new life of working various jobs. In 2000, Roger and Charlotte moved back to their home in Iowa. In 2010, he was diagnosed with Parkinson 's Disease. In Grundy Center, Iowa, he died on January 7, 2012 early in the morning.
