$2050.44Mike passed away peacefully on April 9, 2024 after a brutal battle with Lewy Body Dementia He was diagnosed with Atypical Parkinsons disease in 2010. None of the available Parkinsons medications at that time worked for him. His shuffling gait and hand tremors worsened making it difficult for him to walk without a cane. In 2016, Mike developed Normal pressure hydrocephalus and a shunt was placed in his head to alleviate the pressure. At the time, we were unaware of the correlation between Parkinsons disease and NPH. Mike's symptoms progressed and he lost the ability to drive and to play golf which he loved. It is hard to pinpoint exactly when Mike started to exhibit signs of memory loss, difficultly sleeping, anxiety, restlessness and agitation because he had episodes of these symptoms for the prior 2 years but his symptoms rapidly worsened when the shunt in his head stopped working. In the fall of 2023, Mike was exhibiting all the signs of Lewy Body dementia and was formally designed with the disease. Mike fought really hard against a brutal disease the last 3 months of his life. Again, like the beginning of his Parkinsons journey, there were no medications or doctors that were able to help him deal with the brutallity of LBD on his mind and body. No one could help his tortured mind and honestly, that is all he wanted, PEACE from his own mind. Mike would ask me every day to help him and I could not, unfortunately no one could. My hope is with this tribute page and Mike's story, our friends and family will donate in his memory and hopefully someday in the near future, there will be a better understanding of Lewy body dementia, how to treat the individual with the disease and also support for their family.❤️❤️❤️
