Raised in Tribute:
$877606.00Ronald Foresha was diagnosed with early-on-set Parkinson's Disease in 2007 at the age of 46. He battled PD for over 17 years.
At the time of his diagnosis, there was no known way to determine PD without going through a process of elimination of other possible health issues. It took over 5 years of physical therapy, seeing chiropractors, running blood tests and having MRIs before finally seeing a neurologist who made the diagnosis. We were extremely grateful to Dr. Cintron for finally giving us a name to what was happening with Ron.
We were extremely lucky to be diagnosed in northern VA with access to Georgetown Medstar and the wonderful Dr. Fernando Pagan. He is a pioneer in so many respects when it comes to advancement in the treatment of Parkinson's and movement disorders. We had access to new drug therapies and experimental drugs. Ronald even had DBS (Deep Brain Stimulation) surgery in 2012.
Unfortunately, the disease progressed more rapidly than all of us would have liked. In the final years, he required full time care in a memory care facility and was confined to a wheelchair. He was placed on hospice care and peacefully passed on April 2, 2024.
In lieu of flowers, Ronald's family would like to honor his memory and ask you to aid in the research efforts the Michael J Fox Foundation supports. The goal is to find a cure for Parkinson's Disease.
The Michael J. Fox Foundation is dedicated to finding a cure for Parkinson's disease and to ensuring the development of improved therapies for those living with Parkinson's today. The Foundation is the world's largest nonprofit funder of Parkinson's research, with more than $800 million in high-impact research funded to date.
