Raised in Tribute:
$2322.50Tim Ryan passed away on February 12. He was 86. Tim will be remembered for his love of large family gatherings, passion for protecting the environment, sense of humor, and his long career in investment management.
His health was always of paramount importance to him. He was very athletic and had a regular exercise routine; whether it was playing handball, cycling trips with his wife Annette, or hiking or running with his family on favorite trails in Oregon - he loved it all. He enjoyed delicious healthy food too. And he paid careful attention to his medical maintenance with regular check-ups and followed all of the latest suggested medical guidelines for good health.
Parkinson's came as a real surprise, given his healthy lifestyle and the fact that he lacked the defining visual characteristic of having a tremor. We were fortunate to have the UCSF Movement Disorders and Neuromodulation Center at the Weill Institute for Neurosciences nearby and Tim benefited greatly from their excellent care and direction. He was a real collaborator with his doctors - following their instructions very seriously and also giving very honest feedback about what appeared to be working and what did not. It was said by more than one of his doctors that he likely had better outcomes and results for many years due to his dedication to his health and well being on so many levels.
We are so very grateful for the amazing care he received at UCSF, particularly Dr Cameron Dietiker. And to the Michael J Fox Foundation in their dedication and determination to fund research to find a cure for this disease.
We appreciate your donation to the Michael J Fox Foundation in honor of Tim.
Warmly,
The Family of Tim Ryan
