Raised in Tribute:
$306.00Edna Mae Chek recently passed away. Edna Mae was dedicated mother to Kim, Jake, Karin and Andrew. She was a loving grandmother to her eight grandchildren and a great grandmother of five.
Without doubt, Edna Mae’s greatest strength was her ability to fight. As a survivor of childhood polio and later, breast cancer she was no stranger to fighting disease. Perhaps her toughest battle began in the early 90’s when her beloved husband, Jim, was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease. Together, Jim and Edna Mae (with the help of their friends and family) fought bravely and steadily. Those who have been affected by Parkinson’s know what a difficult struggle it can be for the victim’s loved ones. Edna Mae was no exception.
Ultimately, their fight with Parkinson’s ended when Edna Mae lost her husband of fifty-eight years in the fall of 2010. While she was never quite the same after that day, she shared her strength with the world until her time came to re-join her beloved Jim for all eternity. She passed during the night of February 26, 2024 after a lifetime filled with love, laughter and happiness. One more reward for the fights she courageously fought.
The Michael J. Fox Foundation is dedicated to finding a cure for Parkinson's disease and to ensuring the development of improved therapies for those living with Parkinson's today. The Foundation is the world's largest nonprofit funder of Parkinson's research, with more than $800 million in high-impact research funded to date.
