$3173.75Parkinson's Disease ran strong in Frank's family and we don't know why. With his mother and many of his siblings suffering from essential tremor, it progressed to Parkinson's in some of the family -- for Frank, in his late 70's, although it was difficult to diagnose and could have been sooner. He waged war against it, taking his meds and doing what he could to stay healthy. He did physical therapy, occupational therapy and voice therapy -- getting a "tune up" here and there to keep his skills fresh and to try to keep the nasty disease at bay. He was one of the lucky ones -- it was a slow progressing version and everyone is not the same. He kept a positive outlook, but balance became the biggest issue as well as his voice softening more and more. In the end, it was a fall that took him from us with a catastrophic injury to his spine at age 94. Throughout it all, he always believed there would be medical advances and a cure -- if not for him, for future generations. And, so I ask you to help The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research find that cure. Just in this past year, they have made monumental advances. I'm confident it won't be long until there are more breakthroughs.
With sincerest gratitude, his loving daughter, Grace.
