Donald Robert Mullen, Sr., passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family, on February 11, 2024, at the age of 87. Don's passing comes after a long and brave fight against Parkinson's disease.

Previously departed loved ones include his parents, George and Engeborg, and his beloved sister, Ruth Milton, to whom he was affectionately known as “Babe.” Don is survived by his loving wife of over 66 years, Mary Carol Mullen, and their three sons: Donald R. Mullen, Jr., Christopher Mullen, and John “Jack” Mullen. He is also survived by his devoted brother, George Mullen, and 13 grandchildren.

Don and his wife Carol raised their three boys in River Edge, where he was known as an active community member. Neighbors could always count on Don to lend a helping hand, and he was deeply involved in multiple community projects, including the restoration of baseball fields and the planting of hundreds of trees.

Don was a proud Army veteran and honorably discharged with two years of active service. Following his time in the Army, Don made a career as an elevator engineer for Otis Elevator with 35+ years of service.

After a brief retirement stint in Florida, he returned to New Jersey to be close to family for the remainder of his life.

Don was known for his steady, quiet kindness and will be missed by many.
