Raised in Tribute:
$51.50Harriet Elizabeth Lynde, aged 85, a lifetime resident of Mobile, peacefully entered the embrace of the Lord on January 18th in the comfort of her home, surrounded by the warmth of her family and loved ones.
Born on August 4th, 1938, in Birmingham, Alabama, to parents Harry Skotzky and Clarine Harper Skotzky. Harriet was a Majorette and a proud graduate of Baker High School. She retired from Mobile County Public School System after 25 years of dedicated service. Harriet's unwavering faith in the Lord, deep love for her family, commitment to her church, and active involvement in the community defined her life.
A compassionate soul, Harriet was a natural caregiver, offering unconditional love and generosity to everyone she encountered. She found joy in her roles as a school bus driver, Sunday School volunteer, and flower deliverer with Beckham's Florist.
She was greeted in heaven by her parents as well as stepparents Evelyn Skotzky and Charles Shinn, the father of her children Jeff Lynde Sr, mother-in-law Celia Lynde, sister and best friend Linda Naman, sisters Rosemary Robinson and Charlene Nelson, and nephews Jack Lynde and Keith McLeod.
Harriet leaves behind a legacy of love, survived by her proud children Jeff (Tammy) Lynde, Bryan Lynde, Charles Lynde, Kimberly Lynde, and Christine Miller. She is also remembered by her grandchildren Amanda (Hunter) Elmore, Jared (Meghan) Lynde, Meagan (Nick) Hollis, Sean (Alex) Lynde, Bryan Lynde II, Jason Miller (Abby), Alex Miller (Kenzie), and Krista Miller (Ryan Haynes). Her great-grandchildren Ruby Elmore; Braxon, Jayli, and Emma Lynde; Kate and Grant Hollis; Laila, Corra, and Bella Lynde; Mya and Jaxson Haynes; and the expected arrival of Myles Miller in May 2024, were a constant source of joy for her. Harriet is further survived by her sisters Becky (Bobby) McLeod, Margie Gandt, Linda Shinn, and Donna (Rebecca) Grimes, as well as brother- and sister-in-law Pam and Clayton Lynde, numerous nieces and nephews, and a host of other family and friends. A heartfelt thank you to Gentiva Hospice, especially Nurse Stephanie Bisesi, for the great care and compassion she provided.
