Catherine Myers was born July 24th, 1942 in Staten Island, NY. She spent most of her life there and it is where she met the love of her life in her favorite candy store. In 1962, she and Wes got married and continued to live in New York where they raised their only son. Upon retirement in 2002, they moved to NJ into a mother/daughter home with their son, daughter-in-law and two granddaughters. That same year Catherine was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. It began with tremors and a shuffling gate, but Catherine continued to do what she loved in spite of her symptoms. She would travel to Atlantic City and play her favorite slot machines, go shopping with her friends, and get her hair & nails done regularly. She would continue to cook her famous sauce and meatballs and teach her granddaughters how to make the most delicious brownies. Through the years Catherine took part in physical therapy programs and did her exercises everyday. She stayed as independent as possible with all her activities of daily living with the love and support of her family. It was only 3 months before she passed that Catherine lost her ability to walk and had difficulty speaking. On December 27th, 2023 Catherine lost her battle with Parkinson’s and passed away at home peacefully, surrounded by her loved ones. Catherine was the most gentle, kind, compassionate and loving mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin, and friend to all. She had the warmth and soul of an angel and always treated anyone she met that way. She will live forever in our hearts and the wonderful memories we have of her will last with us forever.
