$100.00Oommen Thomas, known to his students and colleagues as Prof. Oommen, lived a rich, productive life dedicated to his deep love for architecture and teaching. He designed & constructed beautiful architecture in India, including institutional buildings, churches, and private residences in southern Kerala. Prof. Oommen was trained as part of the first batch of architecture students in Kerala (1964-69) at the College of Engineering Trivandrum, University of Kerala and went on to become its first full-time professor and longest-serving head of architecture (1979-1990). He was a beloved teacher and was recognized for his dedication by the Indian Institute of Architects Gold Medal for Architecture Education.
Together with his wife, Sosamma, they built a family with their three children and five grandchildren. And all of this he built upon a life of faith as his foundation.
After years of struggling with Parkinson's, Prof. Oommen passed away peacefully on Saturday morning, November 18th, 2023. We grieve his passing, celebrate his life, and honor his memory.
