About Sue
The sweetest woman to ever grace this planet, Suzanne Lawrence Zazzo, found peace and was reunited with loved ones on December 5, 2023 at the age of 76. Also known as Sue to those who’ve met her or “The Queen” to anyone in her family, Suzanne’s glowing and un-forgettable smile shines down upon all of us today.
Sweet Sue was born on September 13, 1947, in Bordentown, NJ, to William and Ann Lawrence. She was the eldest of 11 siblings, which is how she gained much of her sweetness and patience, which came in handy down the road. She resided in the general Bordentown and Eastampton areas her entire life and graduated from Bordentown High School in 1965.
Her career took her across various jobs within the area, such as the Sheriff’s Department in Eastampton as a secretary, owning and running Parkside Market in Columbus, or selling local real estate in her later years.
But perhaps no line of work was more important than when she worked at the famous Tony’s Pizzeria in Bordentown in 1965. That is where Sue laid her eyes on a hotshot, tough guy known as Edmund A. Zazzo for the first time. He paid for a cup of coffee with a $100 bill in 1965, which she saw right through as a wise-guy move.
But there was something about that wise guy that Sweet Sue wanted to spend a life with—a life of laughter and a growing family. Maybe she saw the future with the family beach trips to LBI, or the Philadelphia Phillies season tickets, or maybe even the countless and enormously growing family parties.
Whatever it was, Sue married Ed on January 15, 1966, and they were married for 54 blissful years, until Ed passed away in 2020. It took the sweetest woman to have ever lived to deal with the toughest man to have ever lived. Together they had two sons, Edmund A. Zazzo Jr, and Jeffrey Zazzo, and resided in Eastampton where she continued to practice patience, sweetness, and silliness at times.
Sue lived a life full of joy and happy memories with her wonderful family. She loved bird houses, she loved scratch offs, she loved Boston Terriers, but above all else, she loved providing for the people she cared most for.
Sue is predeceased by her husband Edmund A. Zazzo Sr., her parents William and Ann Lawrence, her brother in-law Joseph Zazzo, Thomas Haje, Mark Wolters, and John Reina.
Sue is survived by her sons, Edmund A. Zazzo Jr. (Buffy) and Jeffrey Zazzo; her four grandchildren, Connor (Rita), Spencer, Michael, and Melissa; her brothers and sisters, Chris (Mary Ann) Lawrence, Kathy Haje, Bill (Mag) Lawrence, Rae Reina, Vicki (Bernie) Crammer, Mark Lawrence, Tim Lawrence, Jane Lawrence, Charmaine Wolters, and Drew (Valerie) Lawrence; her sister in-laws Gloria Zazzo, Dolora (Dane) Platt, and Patricia (Jack) Kiernan; and countless nieces and nephews.
