Raised in Tribute:
$1347.00Nuncio Arthur Metallo (known as "Art" to family and friends) was diagnosed with Parkinson's in 2001 (at the age of 65).
He passed away last night in hospice care after suffering with Parkinson's for 22+ years and developing pneumonia the last few days - finally too much for his body to fight any longer. Named after his paternal grandfather Nuncio from Italy - who we called “little grandpa ” - and as he aged he grew more and more his resemblance. Known by so many names - Sonny to family and Art to all his friends. Uncle Art. Papa Art. Earlier years known to us as the Indian Princess Big Bear ... Best Daddy Daughter Dancer ... and St Martha's Church 1st Permanent Deacon - Deacon Art. The true family Piano Man - originally the Accordion Boy - all self taught and played by ear. Founder of our church Teen Cub. He taught us to give back and do for others - at a very early age - volunteering at soup kitchens and also singing songs at nursing homes. Grocery store manager later turn pastoral care director - his true passion in life to care for others. And lastly - lover of any game show - but with his Jewel Stores background - could still beat anyone at The Price is Right. Parkinson’s may have slowed him down - but still one of the strongest, hardest working and loving man I will always be proud to call my dad. 💕🙏💕 ** “LOL” Susan **my dad always signed “LOL” ... cause he thought it meant “Lots of Love" 💕💕
Here is a video of him boxing as part of his regime battling Parkinsons. Unfortunately during COVID all of this stopped and really changed the course
of Art's physical battle with the disease.
