Marianne I. Silva, 1945-2023. Ingeborg Marianne Silva, age 77, born on November 30, 1945 in Karlsruhe-Rüppurr, Germany and resident of Oak Brook, IL, USA, passed away on October 5, 2023, after being diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in 1999.

Marianne was daughter to the late Dora (Walter) and Otto Vogel, and beloved wife of David C. Silva. She was the cherished mother of Angelique and Richard Strand, Teresa and Anise Silva; and loving grandmother of Marcelo Silva, and Linus, Aili, Sabine, Perle, and Diedrich Strand. She was the older sister of Otto Vogel, and aunt to Stephanie Isenböck, Johannes Vogel, the late George Silva, Nancy Silva, Marjorie (Silva) Zilligen, Patricia, Sergio, Aurora, Julio, Claudia, and Diego Silva, and many more.

Marianne moved to the United States in 1966 and started working in the early 1970’s at the Robert Bosch Corporation, first as the secretary to the director of the advertising division and then as the executive secretary to the president of the company. She also worked intermittently as the executive secretary to the president of Baum Wine Imports while raising her children.

Marianne was a striking beauty who dressed artfully, had an affinity for languages, world travel, watching soccer matches with her family, gardening, cooking, and reading, and she was a talented visual artist in painting and drawing. Marianne followed her passions even in the face of increasing physical limitations, and she continued to flourish through art-making even in her advanced stages of Parkinson's. And, she never missed an opportunity to don bright jewelry and bold make-up.

Marianne Silva is so loved and she will forever be in our hearts.
