Raised in Tribute:
$1154.50Dorothy Carol Mueller, beloved mother, wife, and friend passed away peacefully in the arms of her family on October, 2nd, 2023. Dorothy was born to her parents Norman and Dorothy Williams on July 29th, 1934 in Chicago, Illinois. After attending Caroll College for two years she transferred to UW-Madison where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree. After graduation, Dorothy was selected as a stewardess for United Airlines despite having never stepped foot an airplane. While politely declining invitations to dinner, including one from passenger, Frank Sinatra, she also took full advantage of the travel benefits. These eventually brought her to Switzerland where she met her husband of 65 years, Hans Mueller, a German native. They married in Hannover, Germany in 1958 and returned to the US one year later with their first of four children “on board” during Dorothy’s journey home by ship. Dorothy was instrumental in supporting Hans’s establishment of M & M Office Furniture which was led in partnership with John Morgen and she stepped in to assist in running the corporation following John’s retirement.
Dorothy was a devoted, doting, and fiercely protective mother to her four children who she considered her proudest accomplishments. While not a natural-born sports fan, after marrying Hans she soon grew to be a soccer aficionado as she cheered on her husband’s soccer team, managed her son’s travel team and spearheaded the expansion of the Kickers’ girls’ soccer program in Milwaukee. Dorothy’s love for adventure and travel also never diminished and she and Hans were fortunate to travel the world through Dorothy’s carefully researched and planned trips to every continent but Antarctica intermixed with their frequent trips to be with family as her children fanned out across the country.
Her many dear friends remember Dorothy for her loyal devotion, her generous spirit, her keen sense of humor and her brilliant smile. Behind that brilliant smile was an equally brilliant mind. Dorothy’s legacy of love, loyalty, kindness, and intelligence will continue to inspire her family, friends and all who had the privilege of knowing her. She will be dearly missed but never forgotten.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her mother, Dorothy C. Williams, her father, Norman R. Williams, her sister Norma Krutsch, her nephew Kenneth Krutsch, and her niece Joann Grafton. She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Hans O. Mueller, her four devoted children: Hans (Terri) Mueller, Niels (Sandy Yi) Mueller, Kurt (Vanessa Wade) Mueller, and Karla (Jon) Mueller-Schrader; by eight loving grandchildren: Sarah (Chris) Gross, Anna (Nick) Edwards, Paula (Kyle) Mueller Davis, Laura Mueller, Hans (Alli Weathers) Mueller-Schrader, Rudy Mueller-Schrader, Tabitha Dorothy Mueller-Schrader, and Piper Mueller-Schrader; one dear great grand-child Hans Winston Edwards and other extended family and friends. The family is forever grateful to Dorothy’s caregivers Contessa Powell, Jennifer Ezell, and Johnquita Brown as well as the staff at Eastcastle Place and Legacy Hospice.
Dorothy bravely and gracefully coped with Parkinson's Disease during her final years. She benefited greatly from the excellent care of her physicians: Dr. Laurel Woods, Dr. Rose Dotson, and Katie Henkie, DNP. Her family thanks you for considering a donation to the Michael J.
