John D. Jennell, age 86 of Amesbury MA, died August 8, 2023, after a long courageous battle with Parkinson's Disease.
Born in Haverhill July 13, 1937, he was a graduate of Newburyport High School and served 4 years in the US Navy.
John's career as a Diesel mechanic with several Transportation Companies. Majored of those years with the Coach Company in Plaistow NH as the maintenance supervisor. John was very active in the Amesbury community, having been a longtime member of the Amesbury Council of Aging, the Amesbury Senior Center meals on wheels program, John delivered meals from 2007 till 2012. He loved checking in with all his friends and giving them a little of his wit and charm. In his younger day he was involved with the Medallions, and the Boy Scouts.
In his spare time, he loved fishing, hunting, square dancing, snowmobiling, enjoyed traveling with his wife and started a tour Group Named J & J tour and especially enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.
He fought his Parkinson every day right up to the very last week. He moved into Port Rehabilitation Center summer of 2022. He had weekly physical therapy sessions but could also be found in his room doing his own excise program. His never give up attitude was an inspiration to his children, his grandchildren and his room mates at the center.
