It is with great sadness that the family of James O’Rourke announced his passing on June 19, 2023, at the age of 79. For 20 years, James bravely battled Parkinson's disease, during which he demonstrated bravery, humility, tenacity and a fervor for life even as the disease intensified.


Family and friends remained at the forefront of his mind, even during the darkest hours of his battle. His loyalty extended beyond family to country; James served honorably in the Navy for 4 years, and later as a firefighter for 30 years. Having served the community, James always knew not to sweat the small things, and to take and enjoy every opportunity that life has to offer.

James loved being surrounded by people. His quick witted, quirky sense of humor could lighten any situation and he had a knack for being able to befriend anyone.

We will all continue to keep James alive in our hearts and in our memories with every beach we may play on, with every goat and farm animal we may pass, and of course with every well lit bonfire.
