Evelyn Celia “Evie” Relyea, age 86, passed away peacefully at her home in Charlton, NY on Wednesday, May 31st surrounded by her loving family.

Abby was diagnosed in the spring of 2021 after a sudden decline and mental and physical health. She had suffered with what they originally diagnosed as essential tremors decades earlier. Once diagnosed with the help of her family, she improved dramatically and enjoyed two years of "controlled Parkinson's". In the spring of 2023 a swift decline occurred once again but this time it ended in her passing.

She was born on May 12, 1937, in Schenectady, NY, the only child of James F. Moffett and Evelyn DeGraff. On June 27th, 1964, Evelyn married her adoring husband Richard K. Relyea.

Evie is a graduate of Nott Terrace High School, Russell Sage College, and Ellis Hospital School of Medical Technology. During her schooling she worked at her family’s business, Moffett Liquor Store. She then enjoyed a long career as a Medical Technician at Ellis Hospital. After retirement she answered the phone and greeted clients at her son Robert’s family business, Relyea & Sons and Daughters.

Evie had two great passions in her life: quilting with her friends and granddaughters, and her father’s love of horses. He put her on a horse as a small child teaching her to ride before she could walk. She often shared stories of growing up spending summers in her father’s box at the Saratoga Racetrack. Over the years she owned several, including a show horse named Sir Mark. She enjoyed teaching her children and grandchildren to ride horses and taking them to horse shows and races.

Evie is predeceased by her parents James F. Moffett and Evelyn DeGraff, her loving husband Richard K. Relyea, and her precious granddaughter Natalie Narcavage.

Evelyn is survived by her adoring children, Nancy Narcavage, Robert (MaryBeth) Relyea, and Russell Relyea; her wonderful grandchildren, Ryan (Florie), Rachell (Zach), Kara, Evelyn, and Robert; her beautiful great-grandchildren, Henry and Atreyu; and several loving cousins.
