Ronald Joseph Haselhort
Ronald Haselhorst, 68, of Palatine, IL, passed away Tuesday, May 2, at Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington, IL, after a long fight with Parkinson's disease, further complicated by recent surgery. Born May 10, 1954, in Hays, KS, he was one of six children born to Merlin and Theresa Haselhorst. Ron studied English and Business at Fort Hays State University and Kansas State University. In 1979, he married Christel Thyfault of Demar, KS. Ron built a successful career in the medical device field, specializing in quality and regulatory affairs, which took him and his family from Kansas to Mississippi, finally settling in Illinois. Ron was widowed in 2002 and remarried in 2016 to Jeanine “Jojo” Hennick of Palatine, IL.
Whether you knew him as Dad, Ron, or Ronnie Refund, it is certain he touched your life in some way! He was a devoted husband, father, and friend. Ron enjoyed everything about music: writing, playing, and attending concerts. In his free time, you could find Ron telling great stories, cooking, reading, discussing politics, and attending workout classes at the NeuroBalance Center.
Ron will forever be remembered for loyalty, musical taste, and quick wit. He was dearly loved and will be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Jeanine Haselhorst.; daughters, Rachel Haselhorst of Chicago; Tara Ruff and her husband, Lucas, of Sycamore, and stepdaughter Kate Hennick of South Korea; his sisters and brothers: Karen Shotwell, Mark Haselhorst, Janet Schmidt, Lori Conway, and Jon Haselhorst. He was preceded in death by his parents, Merlin and Theresa Haselhorst, and his first wife, Christel Haselhorst.
