Elizabeth "Libby" Pickrell Ruddie was a dedicated wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend. She passed, peacefully and surrounded by family and friends, on April 24th, 2023.

Libby was born on November 18th, 1952, to John and Carolyn Pickrell in Buffalo, Illinois. She was a Registered Nurse and Clinical Nursing Instructor until 2020. After graduating from Tri-City High School in 1970, she then attended the University of Wyoming and obtained a degree in English. She went on to graduate from the University of Maryland School of Nursing in 1983 as an RN. More recently, she received her Yoga Teacher Training Certificate from the Foundations Yoga Studio.

Libby married her avid admirer, Stan, in 1983. Together, they lived on Kent Island and raised two free-spirited children, Sarah and Jessie. Her favorite pastimes included spending time with her family, boxing, going on walks, reading, and meditating. The beach, horses, yoga, travel, and healing/spirituality practices were greatly enjoyed activities. She was always trying to learn and experience new things.

Libby worked as a Registered Nurse, then as a clinical instructor, for 40 years, saving countless lives and teaching countless others to save lives. Her incredible work ethic and dedication to her patients were an inspiration to all who knew her.

Libby loved to travel with her family; she saw Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Southeast Asia, Canada, Central and South America, and most of the United States. She had a great sense of humor, loved to tell jokes and puns, and loved to laugh with friends and family.

Her sudden passing has left an indescribable hole in the hearts of those who knew her, but her infectious smile and kind heart will be remembered forever.

A private funeral will take place at the family cemetery in Mechanicsburg, Illinois. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in her memory to the Michael J Fox Parkinsons Foundation
