$2509.64James Joseph McCue of Mamaroneck, NY passed away on April 19, 2023. He was 80 years old.
Jim was born on July 24, 1942 in Washington Heights, NY and was the son of James Charles McCue and Magaret Rita Maguire. He grew up in Washington Heights and the Bronx along with his sister Rita Van Fluke.
On April 20th 1968, Jim married Joanne Dorothy O'Connor and together they had four children Jennifer McCue Robertson, James F. McCue, Matthew J. McCue, and Alexandra McCue, moving from Jackson Heights Queens to Larchmont and eventually Mamaroneck.
A graduate of Manhattan College and later receiving his MBA from Fordham Business School, Jim had a long and successful career in finance, first working for the St. Regis Paper Company and AIG before moving into academia where he was the Vice President of Farleigh Dickinson University and then Hofstra University where he was Vice President of Finance and Treasurer and was instrumental in shaping the school, shifting it from a regional college to a nationally recognized place of higher education. After retirement from Hofstra, he continued to consult at schools throughout the area including SUNY Purchase, Manhattanville, and Mercy College.
In his spare time, Jim was an avid golfer, an avid reader, and spent his summers on Long Beach Island, NJ with family and friends.
Jim is survived by his wife Joanne, his children Jennifer McCue Robertson (Neil), James F. McCue (Molly Tucker), Matthew J. McCue, Alexandra McCue (Peter DiFolco), his sister Rita Van Fluke (Robert), and 8 grandchildren.
To honor and celebrate his life, family and friends will gather on Sunday April 23rd from 4-7pm at COXE & GRAZIANO FUNERAL HOME, 767 E. Boston Post Road, Mamaroneck, NY 10543. A Funeral Service will be held 10am Monday April 24th at ST. AUGUSTINE'S CHURCH, 18 Cherry Ave., Larchmont, NY 10538, followed by burial at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation in his name.
