Raised in Tribute:
$566.50Norman John Partridge, adored husband, father, and grandfather, age 90, went to be with his Lord and Savior in heaven on February 26, 2023, where he joins his beloved son, Jeff Randal Partridge (6/24/61-5/10/00). He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Partridge, his daughter, Wendy Waite, his son-in-law, Thomas Waite, his daughter-in-law, Julie Zimmerman, and his grandchildren, Elinor Waite and Payson Partridge. While bereft and deeply mourning, his family knows he is in a better place. He suffered from Parkinson’s Disease, which made his life difficult these last few years, yet he never complained. He died at home surrounded by the love of his family in his last days.
Norm was born in Wheaton, Illinois on September 28, 1932 and grew up near Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He went to Carthage College in downstate Illinois but stayed out for a semester when he was inducted into the US Army, where he served from 1953 to 1955, during the Korean conflict. Upon his honorable discharge he returned to Carthage College where he met Marilyn Osgood, his future wife. It was love at first sight and they were married for 66 years.
Norm and Marilyn married on August 12, 1956 and had two children – Wendy (born November 20, 1957) and Jeff (born June 24, 1961). He loved his family and was ever-present for them. He was a fun-loving father and a constant source of wisdom and guidance for his children. He was a great Christian role model – a leader in the Church and Christian organizations.
Norm and Marilyn raised their family in Park Ridge, a suburb of Chicago, spent summers in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, and eventually moved to Williams Bay on Lake Geneva. After the kids were grown, they moved to Jensen Beach, Florida, where they lived on the intercoastal waterway and across the street from the ocean.
They had two grandchildren, who he loved dearly, Elinor Elizabeth Waite, born to Wendy and Tom Waite and Payson Jake Partridge, born to Jeff and Julie Partridge. He was a loving and engaged grandfather, known to his grandkids as Papa.
Tragically, Norm's and Marilyn's son, Jeff, was diagnosed with ALS - Lou Gehrig’s disease - when he was only 33 years old and passed away when he was 38 – May 10, 2000. it was only Norm’s fortitude and gentle love that got the family through, and he never lost his faith.
Norm and Marilyn had great fun traveling around the country, pulling their trailer. During their travels and visiting friends, they happened on Fairfield Bay, Arkansas, and decided it would be a great place to settle, and so they did. There, they found a lovely Church – Fairfield Bay Baptist Church – where they became part of a supportive, loving church family, and Norm was a pillar.
A few years ago, Norm was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, which, while it was a difficult journey, he handled it with grace and dignity. The disease limited him physically, but it did not limit his intelligent mind, his great capacity to love, and his generous spirit.
Norm died on Sunday, February 26, 2023 surrounded by the love of his family who him deeply and miss him terribly but is grateful that he is free of disease and earthly limitations in heaven with his loved ones who have gone on before.
