In January 1946, Madi was born in the beautiful city of Buenos Aires, Argentina; Madi was the third child born to the proud parents of Rosa and Attilio D'Alessandro.
In 1947, Rosa and Attilio moved their family to the United States and raised their children in The Bronx, New York. Madi grew up with her 5 siblings Rafael, Attilio, Christina, Victoria, and Massimo, and remained close to all of them throughout her life. The special bond between Madi and Vicki is one that all siblings should aspire to.
Married to the love of her life, Joseph McIver in May of 1970, as the mother of 5 children, Joseph, Linda, Nicholas, Patricia, and Angela. Madi and Joseph dearly loved and were extremely proud of the children they raised. She was always their biggest fan.
As much as Madi loved her children, she was constantly teased about how much she LOVED her grandchildren; Jessica, Kara, Evan, Madison, Jordan, William, Marilyn, Chloe and Grayson; And her great grandchildren: Conor, Ezra, Tripp, and Jesse.
She was lovingly and affectionately called Grandma Mentos, by more than just her grandchildren.
Madi may have had 5 siblings, and raised 5 children, but Madi was a sister and a second mother to many. Her sisterhood with Maureen, Vicky aka "Tricky-Vicky", Ellie, and Jeanette aka "Jan" was a bond that has lasted more than 50 years, and some for 60+ years. With the same sincerity and devotion, her lifetime friendships with Larry, Woody aka "Wood-tu-mei", Charlie aka "Stanley", and Pauly are filled with stories of love and laughter.
As an aunt (Titi) to many, there were times that she took on the role of a second mother to Carmine, Catherine, Dennis, Rosie, Christine, Victoria and anyone else who needed her love, support, and guidance.
For over 40 years Madi worked in the Medical Billing profession, where her family grew even larger with her loving and "adopted daughters": Rosanne, Sylvia and Susan.
Her longtime partner Tommy "TR" loved her beyond words. Tommy adored her, respected her, cherished her, and spoiled her in any way that she would allow him. She loved him, and always referred to him as “My Tommy”.
Madi had a strong, influential presence in the lives of those which became her family; she listened without judgement and spoke with no condemnation; she loved and accepted you for who you are. Madi believed in the strength and unity of family. Family was never defined by those that shared her blood, but by those who shared her love.
Madi was a woman of action, her beliefs were displayed in her daily actions of love and thoughtfulness. Her legacy is one that all should strive for. Madi was kind, caring, loyal, sincere, respectful, loving and she was adored by all. It is also agreed by all, that Madi will always be The Best of The Best!
with love,
~A
