$923.30Robert W. (Bob) Giglietti, age 86, of Estero, FL, entered eternal rest on November 19, 2022, after courageously living with Parkinson’s disease for 6 1/2 years. He is survived by his loving wife, Dianne (Dynia) Giglietti of 24 years, daughters Patrice Barnes, and her husband, William, of Sudbury, MA, and Diane Giglietti of Treasure Island, FL, and stepchildren Julianne and Xavier Puente. Loving grandfather (Pop) to Alec and his wife, Emilie, Matthew and his wife, Maggie Finn, and Cecilia Barnes to whom he has been a bedrock of support. He is also survived by his sister, Maria Emmerich and her husband, Wayne of Fort Mill, SC and brother, George Giglietti and his wife, Jeanne of Branford, CT, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Bob was predeceased by his first wife of 32 years, Kathleen (McCormack) Giglietti.
Born in New Haven, CT on September 15, 1936, he was the son of the late Carmine and Irma (DeVit) Giglietti. Bob honorably served in the Air Force for nearly four years principally in Japan and Hawaii. He attended the University of Connecticut where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering with Distinction. During his college years, he was awarded membership in National Engineering Honor Societies Eta Kappa Nu and Tau Beta Pi, and Academic Honor Society, Phi Kappa Phi.
Upon graduation from UCONN, Bob was employed in the defense electronics industry for 16 years, developing video circuits for NASA’s Space Shuttle program, as well as electronics for other avionics systems. He spent the next 14 years in commercial electronics, first with General DataComm, managing Power Electronics, Value Engineering, and Engineering Services groups, ultimately serving as Chief Engineer, and later as President of Power Switch Corp in Hackensack, NJ. Later in his professional life, he began a new career as an investment adviser at Smith Barney.
Bob grew up in New Haven and Hamden, CT, and was a daily participant in baseball and softball games with his cousins and childhood neighbors. Later as a 29-year resident of Orange, CT, he was an active member of Holy Infant Church serving as President of the Men’s Club. While enjoying retirement in Wallingford, CT and Estero, FL, he was a parishioner of SS Peter & Paul Church and Our Lady of Light Church, respectively.
Bob was an avid sailor taking family and friends on day-sails in his 28-foot Dufour. He also developed a keen interest in photography and was an avid reader of history. A long-time New York Yankee fan, he became an adopted Red Sox fan in 2004 when the Curse was broken.
Bob’s family are very grateful for the dedicated companionship of his caregiver, Thomas “Chip” Ewton and all the dedicated staff at Inspired Living of Bonita Springs, where he resided for the last 9 months.
