"The world is too much with us, late and soon, getting and spending we lay waste our powers, little we see in nature that is ours." These lines are from one of his favorite poems in all of English literature written by William Wordsworth.
It is a bitter irony that Neal's long battle with Parkinson's disease would ultimately rob so many of the words from a man who was a master of both the written and the spoken word. He wrote the most beautiful letters to his family and was always there to offer his guidance and wisdom. He was smart, hardworking, honest in all his dealings, considerate, friendly and had a childlike enthusiasm for life.
His granddaughter said it best. "He lived a great life and created an amazing family showing us nothing but love and constantly sneaking us cookies and candy. While his passing is incredibly hard and sad for our family, I pray he is rejoicing at the rainbow bridge with his daughter, with whom he shared his beautiful smile."
The Michael J. Fox Foundation is dedicated to finding a cure for Parkinson's disease and to ensuring the development of improved therapies for those living with Parkinson's today. The Foundation is the world's largest nonprofit funder of Parkinson's research, with more than $800 million in high-impact research funded to date.
