Raised in Tribute:
$6825.50Sigrid Ellen Helgren was born March 29th 1944 in Sant Rosa, California and passed away peacefully September 20, 2022 after a long 21 year battle with Parkinson's Disease. One of two daughters to Donald (Rusty) and Blanche Helgren she grew up in Sonoma County and went to The Katherine Branson School for girls before she went on to UC Berkely and Sonoma State. After college she left northern California for a life of adventure. Teaching English in Mexico City, spending several months in Argentina and traveling to Europe, eventually settling down in Los Angeles and finding a job as a customs agent at LAX. If you ever had the pleasure of hearing her customs stories then you were truly blessed. Sitting with Elizabeth Taylor who was dripping in diamonds to the drug smugglers to the guy she held a gun to until the cops came while 8 months pregnant, there were so many great ones. Sigrid eventually met Paul Bundy and they continued their love of travel. Spending time in Italy and Spain and setting sail on a 200ft boat cruising the British Virgin Islands. They were married on St. Patrick's Day, March 17, 1975. Soon Karen was born (1978) and Ross followed (1980). After living in Manhattan Beach, they eventually relocated to San Diego which is where they spent the next 35 years raising their family. Sigrid become a middle school math teacher which was her passion and was also where she met so many of her lifelong friends. Sigrid was well known in the hot rod world, traveling with Paul in one of his 1932 Fords from San Diego to Victoria B. C. Canada, twice. Top up, top down, cold or hot, she was ready for whatever adventure lay down the road.
Sigrid will be deeply missed by all those who knew her. She is survived by her husband Paul of 47 years, Karen Urman (Daughter) along with husband Mike, Ross Bundy (Son) along with his wife Angela, 3 grandchildren, Reid, Whitney and Jamie, Karen Bourke (Sister) and many cousins and friends.
Our family would like to express our sincere thanks and appreciation to the owners of Meadow Assisted Living who took such precious care of Sigrid in her final days.
