$1785.50On the 24th of August 2022, Benjamin Pin Liu passed away peacefully at the age of 86. Ben was born on the 17th of December 1935 in Guangzhou (Canton), China to General Chung Kwong Liu and Shay Lien Kao. He was the eldest of five siblings: brothers Galen, Richard, and Chuan, and sister Way Ming. Ben was very close to all his siblings but especially with his younger brother Galen.
With the Communist takeover of China, the family emigrated to Taiwan. Ben received a Bachelor of Arts in Foreign Languages (English) from Tamkang University in Taipei. During that time he met his wife Katherine Chang. After emigrating to the United States and receiving his Master of Arts in Library Science from San Jose State University, he married Katherine on July 4, 1965. He was the father of 2 sons, John and Bill.
Ben was known for his devotion to his family, entrepreneurial passion and avid supporter of the rights of Asian Americans. He is survived by his wife Katherine; sons, John and Bill; grandchildren Ashlynn, Lauren, Aidan, and Ethan; brothers, Richard and Chuan; and sister, Way Ming. The funeral will be held on Friday, the 9th of September, at 1 pm in the Skylawn Memorial Park. In lieu of customary remembrances, contributions in Ben’s memory may be directed to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.
