$500.00Shirley Ann Mason Reynolds, 83, of Davidson, NC passed away in Asheville, NC on Thursday, July 21, 2022. In addition to battling Parkinson's Disease for many years, Shirley suffered a stroke on December 20, 2021. She fought hard to recover from her stroke while in acute rehabilitation in Concord, NC, and then in a short-term rehabilitation center in Asheville, NC, but her PD progressed over the past 2 months and the end-stage happened quickly.
Shirley was born on December 2, 1938, in Newton, Massachusetts to the late Aurel J. Arsenault and Dora Melanson. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Arthur W. Mason; husband, Tommy Lee Reynolds; brother, Francis Arsenault of Waltham, MA; sister, Stella Arsenault of Canada; sister, Doris Proia (husband Fred) of Newton, MA; sister-in-law, Priscilla Glass of Dunedin, FL and brother-in-law, Donald Mason of Waltham, MA.
Shirley resided in Mashpee, MA, North Dartmouth, MA, Wareham, MA, and Waltham, MA prior to retiring to N. Ft. Myers, FL, and more recently lived in Davidson, NC to be closer to her two daughters.
Shirley received her education at Saint Charles School in Waltham, MA. She enjoyed her career working for the Wareham District Court in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
When Shirley wasn’t working, she loved music, reading, puzzles, playing cards, playing board games, and entertaining her family and friends. She was also an avid sports fan, constantly cheering on her favorite teams, the Boston Red Sox, and the New England Patriots. Shirley also loved traveling and felt very at home at the beach and on Cape Cod. Most of all, Shirley loved her family, cherishing time spent with both her immediate and extended family. You would often see Shirley with a white wine or cocktail in hand during these good times…she loved a party and was the one turning up the music and getting everyone else dancing!
Left to cherish Shirley’s memories are her daughters, Laura Carey (Bill Carey) of Davidson, NC, and Lisa Schroeder (Brady Schroeder) of Asheville, NC; son, Marc Mason (Eriko Suzuki Mason) of Huntersville, NC; grandsons, Will Carey of Davidson, NC, and Allen Mason of Huntersville, NC; sister, Barbara (Bill) Bettencourt of Ashburnham, MA; sisters-in-law Rita Mason of Waltham, MA and Carolyn Snelling of Lincoln, MA; and her nieces and nephews.
