Roel was a beloved husband, father, and friend. Growing up in Holland, he traveled the world as a merchant marine and also spent time living in France. He met Georgette at a tennis camp in Amherst, Massachusetts, he fell in love and quickly moved to the United States where the two settled in New Baltimore, NY. He is survived by his wife, Georgette, his two sons, Nicholas and Brendan (Lauren) and by family overseas.

Roel enjoyed playing tennis and in his youth was an avid swimmer, sailor, and skier. As a father, Roel enjoyed attending his son's sports games and always taking part in their many shenanigans.

Roel was an entrepreneur who founded companies in both France and the US. His favorite client, Sano-Rubin Construction, saw his ingenuity and made him a full-time employee. Roel found meaning in his work and was a beloved co-worker to many at Sano-Rubin in his more than 25 year career with the company.

Roel was truly a kind and gentle soul, who had a fondness for the time spent with his family in Florida. He had a peculiar love of American diner food and an insatiable sweet tooth, often having more than one round of dessert.

He was loved in life as he is in death. He will forever be missed. If you have a story or fond memory of Roel, please feel free to share it on this page.
