A father of three kids, and a husband to our mother for 61 years. He was an inspiration to all of us! He passed away from Parkinson's in April of 2022. We all are still trying to wrap our heads around the fact that he is gone. It's been such a huge loss because Dad was such a huge personality and touch stone in our lives. I guess what I miss most about Dad is his laughter; he had such a big all encompassing laugh. No one could not laugh when he was laughing, it was just pure joy!
What I'd like most for people to remember my Dad by is the way he gave of himself to others. If someone was down on their luck, my Dad would give generously and expect absolutely nothing in return. He loved people and I know that many loved my Dad. My Dad was a man of prayer. A close friend of my Dad's told me a story about him; and that he once saw my Dad kneel down in a parking lot to pray with a man. The friend said; "You don't see people doing that sort of thing with other people, Your Dad was a very special person!"
So in conclusion; Dad had a saying that I've heard him quote many times in my life; He would say; "But for the grace of God that could be me!" Think about that for a moment. Parkinson's is a horrible, robbing, disease and it takes our loved ones from us. "But for the grace of God, it could be you or someone you love. I'd like to live to see Parkinson's Disease gone in my life time, wouldn't you?
