John was treasured by everyone that knew him. He was an amazing son, brother, father, and friend. He was very skilled in carpentry and woodworking. He built many homes during his time. This included one he built for his family and even in his later years building an addition on the home he lived in up to his final day. Along with building and remodeling homes he also loved to build clocks, shelves, and numerous other woodworking projects.
Bowling, watersports, auto racing, or just hanging out playing cards with friends were some of his favorite activities. Family trips were also a major joy in his life, whether it was a quick weekend trip to Clearwater Lake in Missouri or the annual trip to Daytona Beach. John and his beloved wife Debbie were always very generous, often taking friends of the family with them on trips, giving them opportunities to go many different places they may not have gone otherwise. Those trips made for many special memories throughout his life.
I am not sure if it was just because he had to plan out his work and was very detailed and strategic with it, but he was this way when it came to hobbies also. Anytime everyone would be building RC boats, trucks, whatever it may have been, he would always like to sit back and observe what others were doing to make sure he didn’t make the same mistake or to give him the ability to make improvements.
John was also a small business owner, he started Fast Lane Hobbies in Edwardsville Il. which was a slot car track that sold cars, parts, and services. John was the owner but also allowed his two boys to do a good amount of work that helped them learn managerial traits and business operations.
As mentioned before John was treasured by everyone that had the pleasure to get to know him, he would help just about anyone that needed it and make the most out of just about any situation he would get into.
