One of the most inspiring figures I've ever encountered in my life, Ray Ewing didn't have an evil cell in his body. He was always fair and quietly solid in his control of a conversation, injecting almost everything with a sense of humor. Making you feel at ease by listening carefully to anything you might say and then responding by continuing of your train of thought, regardless of whether or not he could have easily argued against it. I never heard him raise his voice in an irritated rage in the twelve years I was married to his daughter Laura. I concluded early that he, and his wife Carolyn, were the best in-laws possible and I got lucky! Even though some twenty or so years older, they seemed like friends our age. I'll never forget the example he so clearly laid our for all of us. To witness how the Parkinson's crept in and slowly swept him away, I know now as I approach those years that we've all got to join together and help the research as best we can.
The Michael J. Fox Foundation is dedicated to finding a cure for Parkinson's disease and to ensuring the development of improved therapies for those living with Parkinson's today. The Foundation is the world's largest nonprofit funder of Parkinson's research, with more than $800 million in high-impact research funded to date.
